Abnormal walking pattern is a common condition we treat at our podiatry clinic at Hawkesbury, Box hill. These conditions can be a normal phase of development and growth for children. However, it can be linked to the other conditions or pain if your child is complaining of discomfort or experiencing increased falling.
It is recommended to have your kids assessed if you notice this pattern even though they do not experience pain, as early detection is better than delayed.
Treatment for such condition includes stretching, strengthening and some changes in their lifestyle. Supportive footwear and Prescription based orthotic therapy may be needed to fix the foot posture and aid in alignment of the foot, in essence changing the walking technique.
